muerto.
Yo no voy a decir eso, yo no puedo
prometerlo,
nuevo.

AND I MESSED UP AGAIN
And again I messed up, Put my foot in it
again,
this
time soundly planted. This time the floor swallowed me.
Every time it hurts more, every time the hurt
lasts longer
harder and harder the burial of day, the
light, the sky.
Shame and guilt come walking over fields of
dark mud,
the inheritance of some old Grandfather.
Taunts flutter and nest in my hair,
to
shut the door on escaping dreams.
Every laugh is vinegar transfusing my body,
glassy stares and fear instilling whispers.
Paranoia installs itself, in its element,
blowing around my ruins like ill wind.
whipping my walls, piercing my foundation.
With
blinds down I cocoon myself, locked inside
my
workshop, my cave, this lugubrious chamber,
half womb, half hell, in silence to tremble.
Waiting for the momento that Time
passes with amnesia pistol, and shoots me in
the chest.
Because the punishment has grown to eclipse the act.
Because I am
drowned by the shit living under my roof.
And if I can write this it’s because, very
slowly,
little by little, this winter has reached
it’s thawing.
Solitary ray melting black icicle,
Gently erasing this affliction from my
fingers.
“I will not do it again” he said, that which
now we know.
And he did not believe it, not him nor the poor dead elephant.
I only hope that that stone does not make me
fall again.
